Why the "Cage Fight" Between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg Attracted So Much Attention
Since Meta boss Imprint Zuckerberg and Twitter's new manager Elon Musk answered each other's enclosure match challenge, web has been buzzing with numerous hypotheses and hypothesis about the result. By responding to each other's cage match challenge, two tech titans, CEO Mark Zuckerberg of Meta and CEO of Twitter Elon Musk, set the internet on fire.
Mr. Musk even added some spice to the situation by tweeting that there is "some chance" that the fight will take place at Rome's Colosseum, the most famous battlefield in history. At the end of the day, the news is tied in with making a buzz around two of the greatest web-based entertainment stages and comes similarly as Meta reported an opponent to Twitter.
The two men have clashed for years, but a recent comment by a Meta executive suggesting that Twitter was not run "sanely" irked Mr. Musk, which eventually led to the two men offering each other out for a cage fight. The Facebook parent company has listed a new app in stores that is referred to as "Threads, an Instagram app," and it is anticipated to be released on Thursday (July 6).
The announcement that Mr. Zuckerberg made in February regarding "Threads" with "increased authenticity" and "security across services" — both references to Twitter Blue — is the source of the current buzz. Mr. Musk has made a number of changes since taking over Twitter in October of last year, the most recent of which is limiting the number of tweets that various user groups can view.
Even though the richest man in the world claimed that the move was made to prevent "data scraping," social media users were outraged. Since Mr. Musk's acquisition, alternative microblogging sites like Mastodon and Blue Sky, founded by Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey, have seen an increase in user numbers, but neither has been able to compete with Twitter, which is estimated to have 250 million users.
However, Instagram has a history of introducing new features based on the success of other social media companies and already has hundreds of millions of registered users. In response to Snapchat's growing popularity, it added a feature called "stories" to Instagram in 2016. Stories are user posts that disappear after a predetermined amount of time.
The company's "Reels" short-form video feature has recently attempted to confront TikTok's rise. Regarding the cage fight, if it takes place at all, the news has spread like wildfire on social media, prompting numerous speculations regarding the outcome. AI-generated and morphed videos of the two tech giants engaged in combat can be found on several Twitter stimulations.
Regarding training, Mr. Zuckerberg, 39, is a jiu-jitsu-trained amateur mixed martial arts fighter. Mr. Musk, on the other hand, is a trainer and a self-described street fighter who is 51 years old.
It was Mr Musk who initially moved Mr Zuckerberg to a "confine match". "Send Me Location" was the Meta chief's response to the challenge. There is no confirmation that the fight will actually take place, despite the buzz.
