Making a non-vegetarian pizza is quite simple and can be customized based on your preferences. Here's a basic recipe for a delicious non-veg pizza:
Ingredients:For the pizza dough:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
For the pizza sauce:
- 1 cup tomato sauce or puree
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the toppings:
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken (seasoned with salt and pepper)
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled sausage or bacon
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or salami
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
- 1/2 cup sliced red onions
- 1/4 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
Instructions:
1. Prepare the pizza dough:
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until it forms a dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
2. Prepare the pizza sauce:
- In a small bowl, mix the tomato sauce or puree with minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Set it aside.
3. Preheat the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
4. Assemble the pizza:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal parts (for two pizzas).
- Roll out one portion of the dough on a floured surface to your desired pizza size and thickness.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza pan or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread half of the pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
5. Add the toppings:
- Layer half of the cooked and shredded chicken, sausage or bacon, sliced pepperoni or salami, sliced bell peppers, sliced red onions, sliced black olives, and sliced mushrooms on the cheese.
6. Bake the pizza:
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
7. Repeat for the second pizza:
- While the first pizza is baking, repeat the process (steps 4 to 6) to make the second pizza.
8. Serve:
- Once both pizzas are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a minute or two.
- Slice the pizzas and serve hot.
